Pi-Star / Hotspot Checklist

Pi-Star hotspot setup checklist and common fixes.

Initial setup

  1. Flash latest Pi-Star or open web UI (http://pi-star.local/)
  2. Set radio type, modem (MMDVM), node callsign, DMR ID from radioid.net
  3. Configure Wi-Fi or Ethernet — hotspot must reach internet for DMR networks
  4. Pick DMR Master: BrandMeister US (3101) or TGIF — one at a time
  5. Set static talkgroups: 3147 TN, 31478 TEMA, 3151 VA as needed
  6. Color code must match repeater if parrot testing locally

Troubleshooting

  1. No TX: check PTT GPIO, DMR slot/color, TXContact in codeplug
  2. BrandMeister won't connect: verify DMR ID, firewall, port 62031 UDP
  3. Audio choppy: reduce BER — antenna, power, offset on simplex test
  4. Fusion: set Wires-X room or disable if using DMR only
  5. Reboot: Admin → Update → Quick Reload or power-cycle after config changes
