Pi-Star / Hotspot Checklist
Pi-Star hotspot setup checklist and common fixes.
Initial setup
- Flash latest Pi-Star or open web UI (http://pi-star.local/)
- Set radio type, modem (MMDVM), node callsign, DMR ID from radioid.net
- Configure Wi-Fi or Ethernet — hotspot must reach internet for DMR networks
- Pick DMR Master: BrandMeister US (3101) or TGIF — one at a time
- Set static talkgroups: 3147 TN, 31478 TEMA, 3151 VA as needed
- Color code must match repeater if parrot testing locally
Troubleshooting
- No TX: check PTT GPIO, DMR slot/color, TXContact in codeplug
- BrandMeister won't connect: verify DMR ID, firewall, port 62031 UDP
- Audio choppy: reduce BER — antenna, power, offset on simplex test
- Fusion: set Wires-X room or disable if using DMR only
- Reboot: Admin → Update → Quick Reload or power-cycle after config changes
