Baofeng / BTECH Cheat Sheet
Common Baofeng UV-5R and BTECH menu settings for repeater and simplex work.
Before you transmit
- Set STEP to 5 kHz (GMRS) or 2.5/5 kHz as needed
- Confirm TXP — Low for FRS/simplex tests, High only when legal (GMRS licensed)
- Program R-CTCS / T-CTCS separately for repeater access
- Enable TOT (time-out timer) — 60–180 s recommended
- Disable VOX unless intentional
Menu quick ref (UV-5R)

| PTT-ID | OFF | DTMF burst — usually unwanted |
